When I was approached by Caitlin + Eric to photograph their wedding at Babington House in Somerset, I was over the moon! This is a venue where I always wanted to work at! Knowing the couple’s creative abilities, so I knew from the start that it was going to be a very special day.
Eric & Caitlin moved to Bath from LA six months before their wedding at Babington House. After many Zoom calls, we were fortunate enough to be able to meet in person and do a pre-wedding session too. You can see the photos here. Caitlin is an interior designer who put a lot of effort into making the day bespoke. From the hand-painted candles, the epoxy board with pressed flowers that they used as a backdrop for the ceremony, to the hand-embroidered handkerchiefs, every single styling element was unique.
There was another reason too why it was a very special day to me. I don’t often have the chance to photograph outdoor wedding receptions in the UK because it’s simply too much of a risk for most people but Caitlin and Eric were determined! For weeks, I was keeping all my fingers and toes crossed for them and guess what! It was the sunniest, warmest (well, at least for us) day! The table setup on the lawn looked dreamy. I really enjoyed photographing the speeches in the warm light of the festoon lights.
The ceremony took place at Stourhead in Wiltshire which is a beautiful National Trust site in Wiltshire. I have photographed a few weddings there over the years. The florists did a stellar job at decorating the side of the temple and at the reception venue.
